Semi-acoustic death metal?

As a part of FME Levykauppa Äx hosts couple of acoustic gigs at their store in Helsinki. We won’t be going fully acoustic, but somehow we should figure out a way to blast some death metal at in-store friendly volume. We don’t know yet how we’re going to pull it off, but I guess time will tell. If you want to hear couple of new tracks in an odd setting, head to Levykauppa Äx in Helsinki on Saturday February 20th at 12:30 PM.

On top of the show, you can listen to the new album at the store on that day. If you can’t make it there, we’ll be hanging out at FME the whole weekend, where you can also listen to the new album at Levykauppa Äx’s stand.

Studio blog open, album name and song titles announced!

A quick update to let you all know that our upcoming third album will be called Kuolemanpalvelus. We will start recording tomorrow and try to update Kuolemanpalvelus studio blog as often as possible.

Kuolemanpalvelus will be released in late spring 2010 through Cobra. The album will have eight new songs (order subject to change).

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
