Songwriting has been completed!

The last song – and title track – for the album was completed at tonight’s rehearsals. Yes, that means we have decided the name for the album, but we’ll keep it as a secret for a while longer (we’re bastards like that, what can we say). Damn it feels good right now: we’ve written eight songs, named the album, studio has been booked, a tentative Finnish release date has been set and we’ve even planned some shows to follow the release. In the next couple of weeks we’ll go through every detail in every song to make sure everything is, well, perfect and after that it’s roughly a month of hard work to prepare for the recording in January.

On Monday January 11th 2010 we’ll enter Studio Audio in Jyväskylä to start recording our third album! In the following four weeks we’ll be working long days at both Studio Audio and Basement Alliance with Tuomas Kokko to finish the album. Mastering will be handled by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers in Helsinki on February 8th.

We’re shooting for late spring release in Finland and hopefully a proper plan for other territories too. The name of the album hasn’t been decided yet, but who knows what happens during the next couple of weeks.

Should we keep a studio diary? Post goofy photos? Shoot dumb NSFW videos? Give us your worst ideas and we just might put them into action!

Finnish Metal Awards 2009 is here

The annual Finnish Metal Awards voting is once again open for public.

The fifth Finnish Metal Awards gala will reward the best in Finnish metal in conjunction with the Helsinki Metal Meeting, on February 20th, 2010.

The elite on Finnish metal artists will be awarded in seven different categories, and as it should be, the decision belongs the to the metal devouring public, Finnish and international. Complaining and bitching about the same bands winning everything every year helps nobody, so let the correct opinion be known and cast Your vote!

Vote for us at http://www.imperiumi.net/index.php?act=fma as you all know we’re the band of the year, Timo’s the instrumentalist and Mynni the vocalist of the year.

Please note: International voters don’t need to understand the intro text, just fill in the blanks on the voting form, and PLEASE, as this is the FINNISH metal awards, only Finnish artists/bands and their achievements during the year 2009 are eligible in the voting. The voting uses an e-mail verification, so please submit yours in the bottom of the form.

The voting closes January 31st, 2010 at 23:59 Finnish time. Finnish Metal Awards Gala will be held at Helsinki Cable Factory, Saturday February 20th, 2010.

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
