As most of you know, we’re writing material for our third album. But when an opportunity came to play a couple of shows with good friends of ours, how could’ve we turned it down? Yes, we’re finally doing a mini-tour with our buddies Misery Index in August. More info coming soon.

Some sort of an update on songwriting

Those of you who have followed us for a longer time know that we like to take our sweet time writing new material. Due to various boring reasons we’ve only recently really kicked off with the songwriting. The good news is, however, that we have roughly third of the album written. And that’s a vague way of saying we have four songs pretty much finished, but at this point it’s too early to say if all of those will end on the album. Anyway…

We’ve got two more months before the next show and we’re aiming – and hoping – that by that time we’d have most of the album completed. We’ll see how that goes (place your bets!).

So what does the album sound like? Let’s just say that, as seen in the picture below, Pete has been drawing inspiration from Matti Nykänen (regarding moves, style and hits) while Kosti has been hard at work on his ski jumping career.

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
