Thank you Oulu & Jalometalli Winterfest

We love playing in Oulu for a few very good reasons: we usually have a pretty damn good crowd and we mostly deal with the same folks organizing the shows and they’re really some of the nicest, coolest, most professional folks you could possibly deal with. We had a lot of fun last night playing with a bunch of amazing bands and the crowd was nothing short of amazing either. Thank you Oulu! And thank you Järkkä, Tero and the whole crew and especially Pirjo for some of the best catering we’ve ever, ever had.

Sotajumala signs with Cobra

Our new label is Cobra. Even though a relatively new label, the people behind Cobra have been involved in music industry for a long time. Other new bands on their roster are Deathchain and Survivors Zero (with The Coffinshakers being the first band on the label). We negotiated with several labels, but in the end the decision came easily. We trust them and they trust us. Things are certainly looking good for us right now!

A month has passed and we gotta say we’re surprised by the amount of entries! Maybe we should give away free stuff more often, huh? Winners will be revealed when we hit the studio to record our next album (towards the end of the year), as we don’t know the right answer before that.

Few people guessed we wouldn’t actually play any shows and someone thinks we might do as many as 21. Even we don’t know how many we’ll end up doing, but if we had to, we’d guess somewhere around 5—10. Maybe.

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
