Thank you Lutakko!

We had a blast playing a hometown show on Friday – all in all our 12th time in Jyväskylä! Amazing audience, killer atmosphere, lots of friends and all those bad jokes made it a special 10th anniversary night for us. A warm special thanks to the awesome staff at Lutakko and our crew.

Sotajumala 10 year anniversary

Believe it or not, but this year marks our 10th anniversary! Sometime in 1998 Otsala and Orbinski started talking about a band called Sotajumala and in 2000 the band had its first full line-up. We’ve come a long way since then…

Now, in 2008 we’ve played 55 shows, put out two albums and four smaller releases and spent countless hours on the road. We have a lot of memories that’ll last a lifetime and we’ve had the honour of sharing the stage with Nile, Obituary, Vader, Rotten Sound, Defleshed, Torture Killer, Deathchain and many others. And the future looks bright.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us, bought merchandise, emailed, talked to us at shows and helped us along the way.

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
