Finns prefer execution

Teloitus (which means execution, by the way) is rather popular among Finns, at least judging by the Finnish national charts, where Teloitus can be found at position 17! Not bad for a death metal band whom The Finnish Performing Music Promotion Centre described to “have no commercial potential.”

Sotajumala would like to thank everyone involved in making of Teloitus and especially all those who have bought it! The band members themselves celebrated the event by having some coffee, soda, tuna sandwiches and chili chocolate – what a bunch of party animals!

Jyväskylä’s largest newspaper Keskisuomalainen featured our interview today – our faces covered almost a full page and the interview is also online. One new show has also been confirmed: Finnish Metal Expo on February 15th 2008, main stage at 6 PM.

Here’s a list of various interviews we’ve done lately (all in Finnish). The upcoming issues of Inferno (#51) as well as Miasma (#21), the latest Soundi, Imperiumi, Metallväktarna radio show on Yle X3M which airs tonight at 9 - 11 PM and lastly Get in the Pit video interview that was shot at Inferno Bar in Helsinki last week is also online.

A show in Turku has been confirmed: Klubi on January 11th 2008.

Waiting for Execution (thank you all)

Teloitus is officially released in Scandinavia today. The writing process was a really long one, but we couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out. For the past year we’ve focused only on writing this album. All the set backs, hard times and long hours we’ve spent working on it… it was all worth it. Early morning and late evening rehearsals, driving across Finland and working until morning hours for recording, rehearsing or promoting the release, sleeping way too little and having personal lives suffer on the side. All the sacrifices we’ve had to make, it’s all been worth it, because the only way to do music is by doing it for the love of it. And Teloitus is an album we couldn’t be more proud of!

We want to thank everybody who was involved in the process.

• Sami “Hannu” Koivisto recorded and mixed an album we will be proud of for the rest of our lives.
• Mikael “Hekuli” Jänisoja and Mikko “Palme” Soukkala worked hard on Kuolinjulistus video and it turned out nothing short of amazing. The crew also deserves a big round of aplauds: Mikko Lyyski, Ville Sahakangas ja Toni Riihiluoma.
• Anna-Kaisa Reed designed the artwork we couldn’t be more proud of. The whole Mainostoimisto Aava & Bang crew supported us from the start, which we are grateful for.
• Terhi Ylimäinen took incredible promotional photos and did a good job in dealing with us for a long day.

All in all we want to thank everybody who has been involved in writing, recording, marketing or releasing Teloitus.

Radio Noise & Lutakko support band

Life after pre-listenings

Pre-listening sessions have been done and Teloitus is out soon. It’s been fun and we want to thank everybody who’s been involved in the events (or have suffered because of them). The special show in Helsinki’s Inferno was our first in over a year and we had a great time playing the new songs outside of our rehearsal room. Thanks and greets to the Inferno staff, people who organized the whole thing and all the new and old friends who were there.

Two pre-listenings added

History

Sotajumala is a Finnish death metal band founded in 1998 that plays aggressive death metal. Drawing influence from both old and new generations of death metal the band has created a sound of their own. The lyrics are in their native language and the band name translates to Wargod. Over the years the band has gained loyal following through hard work, solid releases and several fierce live shows.

Debut full-length Death Metal Finland received great response from press and fans alike in 2004, marking the beginning of a new era in Finnish death metal. As a result of meticulous writing process the band unleashed their sophomore album Teloitus in 2007. With its eight crushing songs Teloitus displays Sotajumala’s progress as songwriters, as musicians and as a band - something both press and fans noticed. From start to finish Teloitus destroys everything on its path, not once letting go. This energy is also present at live shows where the band has further demonstrated their abilities to annihilate the masses.
